We are a pioneering humanitarian mission organization serving in Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Since 1998 Peace and Hope Trust has been serving the 5 isolated and disenfranchised...
“I thank God and Peace and Hope for giving me the opportunity to minister with them in Nicaragua during the 2012 mission trip. This was one of the most wonderful and rewarding experiences of my life. I was touched deeply by the enormous poverty, and the contentment shown by those poor communities that we served in Nicaragua. My biggest lesson learned was the beauty of giving without expecting anything in return. That is Agape love. Thank you Peace & Hope for your labor of love, and for allowing me to be part of it giving by grace what I have received from the Lord.”

“The most telling thing I can say about Peace and Hope Trust after my two trips to Nicaragua - is that my experiences there have completely reversed my thinking regarding short term missions. Previous to my 1st trip I viewed short term missions as a glorified sightseeing excursion often to areas in little need of outside help and providing little real benefit but plenty of Christian brownie points. PHT has shown me that an organization comprised of people who truly are committed to an ongoing presence in one of the poorest and most overlooked regions in the world, and who have forged relationships with many people in the towns and remote villages of that region, can transform Christian tourism into a viable conduit for offering real pragmatic care to people in desperate need. Working side by side with people in sometimes very difficult conditions, living in the villages, forming friendships, sharing life, being vulnerable and real, earns volunteers the right to speak about the experience of Christ's love and invite others to share in that love. I have witnessed this first hand now and I am all in."

"It is impossible to write a short paragraph about my experience in Nicaragua. As I reviewed my powerpoint that I created a few months ago the last slide's title was " So Now What?"... and the rest of the slide was blank. I don't recall if this was intentional or I just didn't finish the presentation. Many good things were done this summer, we built rice mills, water tanks, and a concrete ramp. We had a VBS, took family photos, distributed mosquito nets, Bibles, clothes, school supplies and flip flops. Peace and Hope Trust has been returning year after year to help the villagers and to share the Gospel in word and deed... there is still work to do. What does sharing the Gospel look like to a Mom who is watching her daughter die of a brain tumor, or a grandmother waiting to die because of lacking medical attention for an open wound, or a family on their way to burying a loved one and barely keeping their canoe above the water line?
Surely if our endeavors are purely a human effort then the accomplishments will pale in comparison to the needs of this people. But if God is in this work then what a great place to be, to not only see His work but to actually share in it. So now what?”

“Through the work of Peace and Hope, I have gleaned many lessons about myself and my faith in Christ. However, there are two that have been the recurring themes of my experiences. First, I continue to develop a deeper and richer understanding of the unity of the body of Christ. Working and worshiping alongside Nicaraguans and team members has shown me the magnificent diversity of the body and the beauty of serving one another in the name of Christ. Second, each year I am reminded of the faithfulness of God to meet our needs physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This has been an especially meaningful reminder to bring back to my life in the U.S. where the relative comfort of our lives can make us forget our dependence on God.”
