Dear PHFM Community,

Pain and suffering are familiar companions among the remote people living along Nicaragua's Rio Grande de Matagalpa. And without the medical services most of us take for granted, they often just suffer in silence.

But recently, community members suffering from dental pain and even infection found relief and healing in their newly constructed village clinic, which hosted a dental team of six from the UK several weeks ago. The team treated 188 patients, many of whom had never received dental care before, and offered the first medical intervention of the new facility, which will celebrate its official grand opening in March.

A Message of Hope

Those living in Nicaragua's remote villages are unwrapping a very special gift: a brand new clinic, well equipped, expertly staffed and accessible to all by a short canoe ride.

Until now, a mother with a sick baby, an injured farmer or an ailing grandmother often felt hopeless and helpless. But now villagers will finally have easy access to affordable medicine, timely treatment and a physician's care.
